Role: Senior Governance Manager (Executive Committee Secretary)
Salary: c. £72,000–£90,000 (London) / c. £60,000-£75,000 (Edinburgh)
Depending on location, skills, and experience, with room for negotiation based on candidate experience.

Diversifying Group is delighted to be partnering with NatWest Group to appoint a Senior Governance Manager to join its Corporate Governance function, acting as a strategic partner to the CEO and Executive Committee. This is an exceptional opportunity to operate at the centre of executive action, shaping the bank’s governance framework and contributing to the delivery of its strategic priorities.
About the Role
In this unique position, the Senior Governance Manager will serve as the Group Executive Committee Secretary, providing trusted insight, advice, and support on governance matters directly to the Group CEO, Executive Committee, and board directors.
Working closely with the Group Company Secretary, the Leadership Hub, and colleagues across the bank, the postholder will steer and refine governance frameworks and processes to ensure they are robust, efficient, and aligned with regulatory requirements and best practice.
The remit will also include ensuring statutory records are maintained in line with legal and regulatory requirements, identifying opportunities to simplify governance structures, and supporting the delivery of strategic initiatives through effective decision-making processes.

The organisation is seeking a governance professional with proven experience who can navigate complex challenges, manage sensitive information with discretion, and engage confidently with senior stakeholders. The successful candidate will be collaborative, proactive, and solutions-focused, with the ability to influence at the highest levels.
Applicants will bring (Essential Criteria):
- Corporate Governance Expertise – Comprehensive understanding of corporate governance best practice, ideally in a large, regulated organisation.
- Regulatory & Legal Knowledge – Awareness of relevant legal and regulatory frameworks, including experience supporting compliance with corporate governance policies and frameworks.
- Strategic Advisory & Senior Stakeholder Management – Proven ability to build and maintain trusted relationships with executive-level stakeholders, including influencing, advising, and actively shaping decisions at CEO/Executive Committee level. This role goes beyond operational governance to provide strategic guidance on how the organisation functions and develops.
- Discretion & Professionalism – Ability to manage highly confidential and sensitive information with integrity.
- Excellent Communication Skills – Excellent verbal and written communication, with the ability to produce concise, accurate minutes, briefings, and governance papers for senior audiences.
- Organisational & Prioritisation Skills – Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, meet tight deadlines, and adapt to changing requirements.
- Analytical & Problem-Solving Ability – Capable of anticipating challenges, identifying improvements to governance processes and frameworks, and contributing to strategic decision-making that shapes the direction of the organisation.
- Collaborative Team Player – Ability to work effectively across functions, building productive working relationships at all levels.
- Experience in a Regulated Environment – Previous experience working within a regulated sector, ideally financial services.
