Reporting to: Chair and Board of Trustees
Salary: £75,000 – £100,000 (based on capability and experience)

About Mind in Tower Hamlets, Newham and Redbridge
Mind in Tower Hamlets, Newham & Redbridge is a local mind association and community mental health charity. We endeavour to make sure that everyone with a mental health or emotional issue has somewhere to turn for advice and support.
Our vision is a society where everyone is accepted and included; where there is no stigma or discrimination towards people because of mental health issues; and where our clients' needs and ambitions are supported.
We provide support services, raise awareness and deliver activities, groups and events through our work in Tower Hamlets, Newham and Redbridge. We work closely with other organisations to make sure we deliver a high-quality and diverse range of services to people in the local area.
About the Role
The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) has responsibility for the leadership, management and administration of the organisation, ensuring the strategic development of the charity, effective governance and compliance with all legal requirements, including charity law and the regulatory framework for mental health services.
As a fully participating attendee at the Mind in Tower Hamlets, Newham and Redbridge Board and its Committees, the CEO acts as chief advisor to the Chair, Vice-Chair, Treasurer and Trustees, and supports the Board of Trustees in the formulation of Mind in Tower Hamlets, Newham and Redbridge’s (MindTHNR’s) strategic direction of the charity in line with its mission and purpose.
Through the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), the CEO ensures that robust structures and systems are developed to deliver strategic priorities – enabling the organisation to develop, thrive and manage risk appropriately.
The CEO has overall responsibility for the organisation’s staff team, maintaining a hardworking, efficient, dedicated, valued and happy workforce. As custodian of the organisation’s values, the CEO has the responsibility for developing the culture of the organisation as a well-respected partner locally, regionally and nationally.
An advocate for those with mental health and emotional needs, the CEO’s leadership will influence how mental health services are provided within the local community while identifying new opportunities to improve service provision and accessibility. Working in collaboration with statutory and other partners, the CEO is responsible for ensuring that the services provided are effective and high quality.
About you
We would love to hear from you if you have:
- Proven leadership capability, ideally as a CEO or Director of a similarly focused organisation. This may include, but is not exclusive to, leading organisations that are Charities, Health Care Service Providers, Local authority or Government.
- Advanced organisational change skills to bring about culture and behavioural change
- Capability and evidence of inspiring positive and inclusive working cultures with very diverse teams.
- Substantial capability or working with disadvantaged communities, with a practical understanding of the barriers to social inclusion
- An understanding of regulatory contexts at a local, regional and national level
- An appreciation of the local and national drivers in mental health and knowledge of the multi-agency context in which MindTHNR works
- Experience working as part of a Board to set organisational strategy, financial management, HR and Governance Systems
