Mind Tower Hamlets Newham and Redbridge (THNR) - Human Resources Trustee
Mind THNR is looking for an HR professional, with an understanding of the UK charity sector, good governance, and HR policies and passionate about improving mental health to serve on their board.
Location - London (Hybrid)
Time Commitment - Approximately 12-15 days per year for each role, including evening board meetings and strategy days.
Compensation: This is an unremunerated role
About Mind Tower Hamlets Newham and Redbridge (THNR)
MindTHNR has been delivering services and support for people living in our community for over 30 years.
Our goal is to assist individuals in our local communities in achieving improved mental health and overall well-being, as well as living their lives to the fullest. We accomplish this by offering a variety of services that cater to local requirements, such as Mental Health Support, Well-being Groups, Talking Therapies, Employment Support, Advice and Information, as well as Advocacy services.

The Role
The Trustee role has a statutory duty and responsibility for governing and directing how our Charity is managed and run.
The role of the trustee is:
- To ensure that MindTHNR complies with its governing document (Memorandum and Articles of Association/Constitution), charity law, company law and any other relevant legislation or regulations.
- To ensure that MindTHNR pursues its objects as defined in its governing document (Memorandum and Articles of Association/Constitution).
- To ensure that MindTHNR applies its resources exclusively in pursuance of its objectives.
- To contribute actively to the Executive Committee’s role in giving firm strategic direction to the Chief Executive and senior management team, setting overall policy, defining goals, and setting targets and evaluating performance against agreed targets.
- To safeguard the good name, culture and ethos of MindTHNR.
- To ensure the financial stability of MindTHNR.
- To protect and manage the property of the charity and to ensure the proper investment of the charity’s funds.
Who We Are Looking For In a Trustee:
- Commitment to MindTHNR vision and mission to improving mental health services and raising awareness of mental health.
- An understanding and acceptance of the legal duties, responsibilities and liabilities of the Board of Trustees and be prepared to access information and training to develop this.
- Commitment to Nolan’s Seven Principles of Public Life: selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty, and leadership.
- Operate strategically and to work effectively with the Board of Trustees and CEO to develop the strategic vision for the organisation.
- Use any specific skills, knowledge or experience they have to help the Board of Trustees reach sound decisions using good, independent judgement.
- Have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- An understanding and commitment to equality, equity, and inclusion in line with our strategic objective to work towards becoming an Anti-Racist, Anti Discriminatory organisation.
Role-Specific Experience & Skills - Human Resources (including DEIB)
We are looking a senior HR professional who is passionate about improving mental health with an understanding of the UK charity sector and good governance, along with thorough understanding of HR policy and best practices.
