Are you interested in working with Assembly Members from across the political spectrum to hold the Mayor to account and investigate issues of importance to Londoners?
The London Assembly is looking for a talented senior policy researcher to join its highly-regarded scrutiny team, where you will be investigating some of the key challenges facing London and examining the Mayor’s policies to address them.
We are looking for someone with excellent research and analysis skills and experience of using them in a senior role. You should have the ability to create high quality written outputs, as well as experience working in a political environment or with politicians.
In this role, you will be responsible for leading the staff side of committee programming, including producing and delivering a wide-range of projects, research, briefings, reports and outputs for the London Assembly, its committees and its Members.
On a day to day basis, you will be liaising with politicians and their teams, gathering and analysing evidence from a range of sources, developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders, and formulating credible recommendations for action.
On a day to day basis, you will be the senior Scrutiny team member responsible for advancing the Transport and Envionment Committees’ plans and programmes. This will include liaising with Chair, Members and their teams, developing and maintaining relationships with stakeholders, and managing a small team of policy advisers to produce high quality work and develop their skills.
There will also be a strong research element to the role as you will take direct leadership of complex investigations, gathering and analysing evidence from a range of sources and formulating credible recommendations for action.
You should have direct experience of research and policy work on at least one of the two subject areas of Transport and Environment.
This is an excellent opportunity to lead a committee staff on two critical committees in the London Assembly, and to gain valuable experience in dealing with a wide range of stakeholders inside and outside City Hall – including senior elected politicians.
If you enjoy creative thinking, working in a fast-paced, political environment, and have strong research and drafting skills, this job could be perfect for you.
