About Mind
We're Mind, the mental health charity. We're here to make sure no one has to face a mental health problem alone. We provide advice and support to empower anyone experiencing a mental health problem. We campaign to improve services, raise awareness and promote understanding.
Our strategy and brand puts campaigning at the heart of our organisation. And we’ve identified 3 areas where we need improve on: supporting people from racialised communities, tied to our anti-racist commitment; working alongside young people, including addressing trauma (especially in young women); and issues of people living in poverty. We are motivated as a team and as an organisation to expand and deliver beyond our continued long-standing work.
We won't give up until everyone experiencing a mental health problem gets support and respect.
About the role
In this role, you will work closely with the Senior Public Affairs & Campaigns Officer to lead Mind’s work to ensure that we are the go-to mental health charity amongst parliamentarians, and that our campaigning priorities are heard and understood by politicians from all parties. You will plan, deliver and evaluate strategies to engage politicians, ensuring that the conversation in Westminster leads to tangible change for people with mental health problems. You will identify political influencing opportunities for Mind across our priority campaign areas, ensure that our relationships with Ministers, their Shadows, and senior politicians are well thought through and have clear purpose, and support Mind’s senior management in their political relationships. You’ll also work on legislation, including drafting amendments and working with Committee Members and Bill Teams as required.
You will work across the organisation to coordinate activities and messaging and to increase the reach and effectiveness of Mind’s campaigns. You will need to work closely with colleagues across the Policy and Campaigns team in all aspects of your work. You will need to inform and involve the network of local Minds across England and Wales in our campaigning work, and to engage and empower our members and campaigners - many of whom have mental health problems – to speak out.
