Could you support the delivery and oversight of some of London’s key priorities including: implementation of the London Plan, major and community-led regeneration, building a skills system fit for Londoners and ensuring good growth that delivers a cleaner, greener and smarter London?
As Senior Adviser to the Deputy Mayor for Planning, Regeneration and Skills, you’ll support the Deputy Mayor to achieve these goals, and more. You’ll have a portfolio as exciting and diverse as the city you love, your impact will drive real change to the fabric of our city, and you’ll directly contribute towards building a better and more prosperous London.
You’ll assist in developing, promoting, implementing and advising on Mayoral programmes, policy and strategy, whilst helping the Deputy Mayor to perform their day-to-day functions well, for example by preparing briefings and speeches.
You’ll represent the Deputy Mayor as required in internal and external forums and help to steer teams within the GLA and across the GLA group on Mayoral priorities and messaging. You’ll also work with fellow Senior Advisers – such as those working on Stakeholder Relations or Strategic Communications – to coordinate, promote and deliver Mayoral policy effectively.
Your attention to detail and ability to grasp and analyse public policy are crucial. Our incredible city is fast moving, and things can change quickly so you’ll also need to be able think on your feet and work with agility. This is a strategic role, so you’ll show evidence of good strategic thinking in a public policy environment. You should also be comfortable engaging with stakeholders, including organisational leaders and senior politicians.
We want a workforce that’s as diverse as our city, so we encourage people of all experiences and backgrounds to apply. Please do get in touch if you are unsure or would like any more information.
This role will be based at City Hall, in the Royal Docks (Kamal Chunchie Way, London, E16 1ZE). GLA staff are hybrid working up to 3 days a week in our office and remotely depending on their role. As part of this, you will need to split your time between home working and coming into the office.
London's diversity is its biggest asset and we strive to ensure our workforce reflects London's diversity at all levels. We welcome applications from everyone regardless of age, gender, gender identity, gender expression, ethnicity, sexual orientation, faith or disability. We particularly encourage applications from Black, Asian and Minority ethnic candidates and disabled candidates who are currently underrepresented in our workforce. For more information on the GLA’s approach to Diversity and Inclusion, please see Diversity and our values | London City Hall
We are committed to being an inclusive employer and we are happy to consider flexible working arrangements. We would welcome applications from candidates who are seeking part time work as this role is open to job share. In addition to a good salary package, we offer an attractive range of benefits including 30 days’ annual leave, interest free season ticket loan, interest free bicycle loan and a career average pension scheme.
