Salary: £57,600 - £61,800

Location: A hybrid mix of homeworking and at least 2 days per week in the London office

The Association of Charitable Foundations (ACF) is the membership body for UK foundations and grant-making charities.

Driven by a belief that foundations are a vital source for social good, our mission is to support them to be ambitious and effective in the way that they use their resources. We do this through the provision of policy and advocacy, research and information, and a wide-ranging programme of events and learning. Our 400 members collectively hold assets of around £50bn and give over £2.5bn annually.

About the role

The Director of Policy, Practice and Research is an exciting new leadership opportunity that reports and supports the CEO in shaping ACF’s narrative on the role and practice of foundations and ensures a positive operating environment for them.

You will have accountability for leading ACF’s influencing work with and on behalf of foundations, managing ACF’s relationships and reputation so that we live our values, and are listened to and respected by policymakers, charity regulators, other external stakeholders, foundations, and members.

A focus of the role is to catalyse change in foundation practice and demonstrate their positive impact, through our policy, research, and media management work.

As Director you will lead the policy team and line manage the Head of Policy and the Head of Funders Collaborative Hub.

About you

We would like to hear from you if you have a passion for philanthropy and a track record of developing, executing, and evaluating successful policy and communications strategies that have influenced change.

You will have the ability to build productive professional relationships and partnerships with a wide range of individuals and stakeholders at all levels as well as having a sound understanding of the working of membership organisations or a similar environment.
