Would you like to help Londoners who are struggling to make ends meet and play a part in shaping London’s recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic? You could play a central role in delivering ambitious and effective programmes to support Londoners at risk of financial hardship or food insecurity.
The Greater London Authority’s Communities and Social Policy Unit is recruiting a Senior Policy and Projects Officer to work in its Equality and Fairness team. The team is delivering a programme of work to help Londoners offset the worst effects of the current cost-of-living crisis in addition to leading one of the London Recovery Programme’s flagship missions to create a Robust Safety Net for Londoners, working with partners across London to address the longer-term issues of poverty, financial inequality and hardship (including food insecurity).
We are looking for someone to help ensure our programme delivery is informed by a thorough understanding of the nature of poverty and inequality in London, and that it responds to – and shapes – the latest policy developments. You will have experience of designing and delivering impactful programmes; knowledge of social policy issues; the ability to communicate complex and sensitive issues clearly and concisely; and the ability to brief decision makers.
Successful partnership working is critical to this role. You will work closely with other teams in the Communities & Social Policy Unit, teams across the GLA, and a range of recovery partners and other key stakeholders including London’s boroughs and voluntary and community sector.
This role will be based at London Fire Brigade’s Head Office (Union Street SE1 0LL). GLA staff are hybrid working up to 3 days a week in our offices and remotely depending on their role. As part of this, you will need to split your time between home working and coming into the office.
London's diversity is its biggest asset and we strive to ensure our workforce reflects London's diversity at all levels. We welcome applications from everyone regardless of age, gender, gender identity, gender expression, ethnicity, sexual orientation, faith or disability. We actively encourage applications from Black, Asian and Minority ethnic candidates and disabled candidates who are currently underrepresented in our workforce. We are committed to being an inclusive employer and we are happy to consider flexible working arrangements. We would welcome applications from candidates who are seeking part time work as this role is open to job share. In addition to a good salary package, we offer an attractive range of benefits including 30 days’ annual leave, interest free season ticket loan, interest free bicycle loan and a career average pension scheme.
